After a two-week residency in Lemba, Cyprus, I have made a body of work that reflects my experiences of the landscape, culture and politics of the country. Using drawing as a medium to explore this immensely complex geographical and political landscape, the notion of the “green line” is a significant aspect of my work and also the recent history of Cyprus. Drawn by a UN general with the nearest writing tool to him, the green line divides Cyprus into separate Greek and Turkish land. The green lines in my drawings act as a tool of contrasting divisions and unifications within a seemingly peaceful paradise.
